The Benedictine monk, originally baptized Gerhard, grew up in Stockerau and completed the boys' seminary in Hollabrunn. After graduating from high school, he studied theology in Vienna and Salzburg – in 1976 he entered Göttweig Abbey, where he made his solemn profession in 1980. In the same year he was ordained a priest by Bishop Franz Zak. Many functions and responsibilities shaped his religious life before he was elected abbot for the first time in 2009 for a period of 12 years. He was confirmed in office in March 2021.

"Emerging stronger from crises - strategies during and after"

Due to the COVID 19 pandemic, care and health facilities are particularly challenged in days like these. Find out first-hand from the managing director of one of the largest nursing and healthcare facilities, what leadership and management challenges he is facing these days and what can be learned from them. dr Markus SCHWARZ previously managed the Executive Search department of the well-known consulting company Egon Zehnder in Vienna for many years and made his experience as a senior manager available to a wide range of clients from different industries. The originally doctorate in immunology acquired an MBA at the renowned IESE Business School in Barcelona after his studies. His path then led him through managerial positions in medical technology in a US company to hospital management at the Salzburg State Clinics. As part of this activity, he played a key role in setting up the Paracelsus Medical Private University (PMU) and until the end of 2012 acted as one of the board members of the foundation that owns the university. In addition, he was continuously involved in strategic consulting projects and has gained many years of experience as a moderator of case seminars within the framework of the Society for Family Orientation.

"Emerging stronger from crises - strategies during and after"

The past few weeks and months have put many managers to a hard test. For many of us, dealing with an uncertain future is a burden and, depending on our personality, means both professional and private stress. The general mood in the Austrian management floors is accordingly. In times like these, not only effective stress management is required, but also crisis-tested personalities and managers whose experience we can use as a guide. We were allowed to welcome such a personality on September 15th. as part of our new online lecture series EULEAD Experts greet.

Guest: Prof. Dr. Reinhard Krepler

That evening we welcomed Univ.-Prof. dr Reinhard Krepler, who gave us an insight into his decades of experience and successful crisis management strategies. dr Krepler is President of the Vienna Red Cross and longtime medical director of the Vienna General Hospital.
